E-decor: How to Decorate a Living Room in a Beach Cottage Style?

( I don't owe any of the photos, the sources are listed below, I was not sponsored nor asked to feature any of the products listed)

I have recently been asked to do an e-design for a living room area. The client told me that she liked blue and had two children, but still wanted to have a pretty interior where they could relax and enjoy some time together as a family. Of course the room had to be presentable for guests as well.

Since the client lives in a coast area and wanted to see some elements of blue I immediately thought of designing a beach inspired living room with some elegant modern touches. My stores choices were clear: Pottery Barn, West Elm and ZGallerie. I picked the white sofa and the white swivel chairs for the comfy design, but also for the slipcovers, which can be easily cleaned should the need appear.

Outside of comfort and the utility I also wanted to add some elegant details, such as the mix of pretty pillow covers, soft and luxurious throw and the pretty animal print inspired tray.

One of my favorite pieces is the TV console which can store a variety of items such as CDs, DVDs or toys.

I was hoping to capture the sandy beach and the different blue shades you will always find by the water.

Below is the breakdown of all the products I used in this e-design:

Sofa, I have thought about the sofa situation for a while. I think the bright colors would be best for the room, especially as that corner by the window might get a little dark. However, bright colors can be difficult to pull off especially with little children. That's where this Pottery Barn sofa is perfect, because you get to remove all of the slip covers and wash them as needed. A similar option would be a sofa from Ikea.

For the chairs I have used the PB slipcover chairs knife-edge swivel arm chairs, they can be easily cleaned and turned if you want to watch TV, etc.

All the pillows are from West Elm, they are currently on sale, and you can buy them as a set of filling and cover or cover only.

The cozy blanket and the tray which you can use on the coffee table or on the TV stand to highlight some favorite décor pieces or beach finds are from ZGallerie.

The coffee table is from West Elm as well. I like the rustic, but modern shape of the table top. If you want to stay away from this wood element, this table also comes with a marble top.

The TV stand is from Pottery Barn. It has plenty of storage room,  and I like the distressed antique blue shade of the front.
I also recommended these food stools from Ikea, which stacked can be used for additional seating and these cute blue bottles, which would be perfect for decoration.

To ground the room, I found this awesome rug in a sandy color at Rugs USA, they have a large assortment of discounted rugs.

I would also add a floor lamp by the sofa, a side table and a little table between the two swivel chairs to set coffee.

Do you like modern cottage decor for a living room? What other pieces would you add to this collage?
