Week-End Soup

Hello my beautiful Glamistas! Happy Columbus Day. Have you had a day off today? Well, those of you who have not, I hope you have had a pretty good start of the week.
I wanted to start this week with another edition of Week-End Soup.

Enter a shot from Washington DC's Chinatown from a recent walk about. :)

This week I have been truly moved by this courageous woman name Brittany Maynard who is battling  gliobastoma multiforme, a particularly aggressive type of brain cancer for which, currently, there is no cure. Brittany was told by her doctors that she has a very limited to time to live, she chose to spend this time with her family and close friends traveling the world and enjoying the time she has with her loved ones. Maynard moved to Oregon where she can take advantage of the laws which allow terminally ill patients to receive prescription for lethal medication, she can take when she's ready to depart. Regardless of your thoughts about this law, her story is worth sharing. You can watch the video of her talking about her choice here

Malala Yousafzai became the youngest person to ever receive the Novel Peace Prize for her work in furthering children's education. You can read more about Malala, her work and what makes her such an inspiration in this BBC New article.

At last I wanted to recommend to you the book I have been reading the past few days-#GirlBoss. The book was written by Sophia Amoruso who is the founder of Nasty Gal. Sophia not only talks about how she started her company,  but she also provides a handbook of how to be a #girlboss, what is important when running a business and how she used social media to her advantage when starting her company. You will find this book easy to read, super informative and very inspirational.

What have you been reading lately? What women have been inspiring you this week to take action and be a Glamista? Please share I love reading your comments and thoughts about these and other subjects!
